Save The Frackville Community Pool!
Frackville needs a new community pool! When the snow melted in the spring of 2015 we found that the walls of the pool, had moved away from the deck. Mother Nature and Father Time seem to be to blame. The cost to make repairs for one season, until the problem could be fixed was estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars and Council decided a better effort was to rebuild a more modern pool. Council immediately set aside most of the 2015 pool budget for the project. While Council hopes to receive a grant for half of the estimated one million dollar cost, community donations will reduce the amount of the additional loan the Borough (in other words, taxpayers) will need to fund the project. This is the last remaining outdoor public pool in our area of the county. Children from Frackville and surrounding towns rely on the pool for a place to spend summer days, learn to swim and as a place for private parties and free swims! The pool in its current configuration was built in 1978 and funded entirely by donations. The prior pool was built in the 50's. The availability of a community pool is a legacy we hope to continue.
